About Us

Mission, lineage, and history of the Two Truths

Our Mission

Den Nyi Buddhist Society (二谛佛学院) is established to preserve and propagate the authentic Buddha Dharma of the Gelug lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in Singapore. The name 'Den Nyi' (二谛) translates to the 'Two Truths'—Conventional Truth (世俗谛) and Ultimate Truth (胜义谛)—which form the foundational framework of Buddhist philosophy.

Our mission is to provide a harmonious environment for the study, contemplation, and practice of the Dharma. Through teachings, pujas, and volunteer programs, we strive to nurture compassion and wisdom in the hearts of all, contributing to a peaceful society.

Founding Story

Den Nyi Buddhist Society was established in 2026 by a group of dedicated practitioners in Singapore, under the guidance of our resident teacher, Geshe Lobsang Chodang Nyolgha. Located in the heart of Beach Road, the center serves as a sanctuary for city dwellers seeking spiritual refuge, study, and connection.

Our Lineage

We follow the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by the great saint-scholar Lama Tsongkhapa (1357–1419) in Tibet. The Gelug lineage, also known as the Yellow Hat school, emphasizes study, monastic discipline, and the integration of philosophical analysis with deep meditative practice.

Lama Tsongkhapa synthesis of the sutra and tantra paths, as detailed in the Lamrim Chenmo (Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment), serves as our primary guide. We respect and honor His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as the supreme spiritual guide of this tradition.
